The Democratic Party nearly doubles FDI, confirming its position as Italy's leading party, with M5S, Italia Viva, Lega, and Azione trailing at a safe distance but extremely close together. These are neither election results or polls for the forthcoming regional or European elections, but data from the Due per mille intended for political parties on taxpayers' tax returns in 2023. According to the MEF's study, the Democratic Party has clearly obtained the most: 8.1 million euros, derived from the choices of 531 thousand taxpayers (an average of slightly over 15 euros per), accounting for 1.28% of the total. Fratelli d'Italia, now the most popular party in Italy, ranks second in this particular list, with 4.8 million revenues: In calculating the 730, 348 thousand Italians (13.8 euros on average) or 0.8% of the total electorate opted for Giorgia Meloni's party. The 5 Star Movement is third with 1.8 million, followed by Matteo Renzi's Italia Viva, which has 1.1 million, slightly more than Matteo Salvini's Lega, and Carlo Calenda's Azione, which has one million. Europa Verde and Sinistra Italiana, which constitute a unified party in Parliament, have each collected 800,000 euros, bringing them to fourth place, slightly behind M5S. Più Europa received 700,000 euros from taxpayers, compared to Forza Italia's 610,000.
