According to data from the Ministry of the Interior, there were a total of 330 homicides in 2023 compared to 322 in 2022; there were 120 murders of women, compared to 126 in the previous year: 4 times out of 5 these occurred in the restricted or extended family environment and were carried out in 50% of cases by the partner or ex-partner. In 93% of cases, women were killed by a man. These are the data provided by ISTAT's central director for population statistics and population census, Saverio Gazzelloni, during the hearing in the Commission of Inquiry on Femicide. "It was a very important hearing, which gave a very timely picture, not only on the numbers of feminicides, which have remained constant, but also provided a qualitative element of reflection on the whole now structural phenomenon of feminicide," said Martina Semenzato, President of the Commission.
