For luxury companies and Made in Italy companies more generally, the mismatch between supply and demand for technicians is now such that it is impossible to fill 60 percent of available positions. Between now and 2026, the high-end will need 346,000 technical and professional profiles (compared to an estimated 236,000 in 2019), reflecting a significant growth in the global market, which recorded an 8-10% increase in 2023. Thus, the need for manufacturing professionals is growing, but today we already know that only part of it will be able to be met. Of the 346,000 technical and professional talents, 108,000 are required by Automotive. Among the figures sought there are engineers, mechanics, assemblers, maintenance workers. The boost comes from digitalization and green: people are hunting for experts in cybersecurity, digital sales, engineers and mechanics specializing in hybrid and electric engines. Fashion and jewelry companies will need 94,000 do-it-yourself talents. The main profiles are prototypists, designers, graphic designers and pattern makers. Food & Beverage anticipates a need over the four years of 62 thousand resources, starting with technicians specialized in food processing and marketing. There are 46 thousand requests in Design and Furniture, and 36 thousand in Hospitality.
