From Brescia to Canada, with a deal of 20 million euros. Strathcona Resources has commissioned Turboden, a Lombard-based business, to develop and build North America's largest organic rankine cycle turbine facility, with a capacity of 19 megawatts. An order that will enable the Brescia-based company to exceed 100 million in revenue for the first time. The Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) system, which is slated to be implemented at Orion's Strathcona plant in Cold Lake in the Canadian state of Alberta, will use waste heat recovery to generate zero-carbon power, accounting for around 80% of the company's current grid energy usage. Using ORC technology, Strathcona in Canada will be able to absorb previously lost low-quality thermal heat and transform it into energy, which will be used for self-powering and reduce the need to connect to the local power grid. The Strathcona ORC project is expected to be finished in the first half of 2025.
