Long an inspirational muse of director Federico Fellini, she was directed by Antonio Pietrangeli, Sergio Corbucci, Luciano Salce - to name a few - and acted with actors such as Alberto Sordi and Marcello Mastroianni. Her first important role came in 1959: in the film "General Della Rovere", directed by Roberto Rossellini, she played the role of a prostitute alongside Vittorio De Sica. "Today at 8:25 a.m. our mother passed away. She left us peacefully, falling asleep in her bed in the way she had expressly requested, surrounded by our love and that of her beloved dogs Jim and Lady. We ask you to respect our immense sorrow and pray for her soul, addressing her thoughts of light," her children Debora, Ciro and Azzurra wrote on Facebook. Sandra Milo was one of the stars of Italian cinema in the 1960s and is linked to titles that have left their mark on the history of the big screen such as 8+½ , Juliet of the Spirits, Adua and her friends, and Ghosts of Rome. Fundamental for Sandra Milo was her meeting with Fellini. In 8+½ of 1963 and Juliet of the Spirits, a 1965 film, "Sandrocchia" played the role of a femme fatale, ironic and uninhibited. For both films she won the Silver Ribbon for best supporting actress.
