"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the Sanremo Casino for an exceptional evening organized by Rai, an evening of song with Cinico Angelini's orchestra”. With these words on January 29, 1951, the first Italian song festival opened in San Remo, hosted by Nunzio Filogamo. There are only three singers in the competition, who perform all twenty songs selected. Television is not yet there: it is the radio that broadcasts the event. And it is precisely the radio audience that decrees its success, with a great participation of listeners. After 73 years and a few days before the start of the 74th edition of the Italian Song Festival - scheduled to take place at the Ariston Theater from February 6 to 10, 2024 - radio is still the protagonist. From Monday, February 5 to Sunday, February 11, in fact, Rai Radio2's schedule will be dedicated day and night to Sanremo, in a continuous relay of programs, voices and beloved faces of radio. With more than 100 hours of dedicated programming, Rai Radio2 is the only official radio station of Sanremo 2024, signed by the Festival's presenter Amadeus. Guests and protagonists will always be live in a continuous flow with the presenters passing the keys to the story to make listeners protagonists of the Festival. Programs on the schedule include “Non so stare senza Sanremo” ("I Can't Stay Without Sanremo") live from the Box Studio with Ema Stokholma and Filippo Timi. Approaching the evening will instead air “Aspettando Sanremo” ("Waiting for Sanremo") with La Mario and Diletta Parlangeli. Lights on then, on the Ariston stage, with "Sanremo24" from the Blueroom with Ema Stokholma and Gino Castaldo to listen to the songs in the competition and “watch" an exclusive backstage with the singers who just come off the stage and switch to Radio 2.
