A major hydrogeological risk reduction action is about to start in Arquata del Tronto (Ascoli Piceno). It is an intervention fully financed by the commissarial structure for a total amount of 1.7 million euros, whose works are in the operational start-up phase after the awarding of the tender and the stipulation of the contract. "The objective," explains Extraordinary Commissioner for the 2016 earthquake Guido Castelli, "is the reduction of the hydrogeological risk of the eastern slope of the built-up area of the capital, now classified as R4 (very high), due to the presence of a vast landslide movement that also affects the main and only access road to the historic core of the village. The latter, moreover, represents the route that will be used for its reconstruction. Ensuring all the safety conditions for the rebirth of these places represents one of the priorities shared with Regional President Francesco Acquaroli and the Special Reconstruction Office". Works are planned to stabilize the slope, a strengthening intervention through the installation of metal nets and an extensive water drainage system through the installation of sub-horizontal drains. In addition, road resurfacing is also planned.
