Fieragricola, the international exhibition that covers all aspects of agriculture, from mechanics to animal husbandry, green chemistry to cutting-edge field technologies, has started in Verona. The event, which runs until Saturday, February 3, will feature 820 firms from Italy and 20 other countries, as well as buyers from 28 nations. Italy's agricultural sector generated 74.6 billion euros. However, the news is not good because climate change has taken away one out of every four fruits in Italy, putting over 1,200 goods at risk. During Fieragricola, Confagricoltura will sign an agreement to boost corn production, while in the context of new agricultural technologies, it will present the first prototype of a robot designed to harvest fruit, a drone equipped for olive tree treatments, and a robot that enters vegetable greenhouses and distributes fertilizers and pesticides in precise quantities based on plant needs. Italian businesses are increasing their investment in technology: 32% of farms utilize tractors with aided or semi-automatic driving and integrated GPS, while 25% already use company weather stations.
