The national collective bargaining agreement for actors has been reached, introducing minimum salaries for the first time in the history of Italian film, which dates back to 1905. Ahead of one hundred thousand sector employees, the three-year contract categorizes the audience into three groups: supporting actors, protagonists, and other roles. The first example sets the minimum tables at €1,100 gross each laying day, the second at €850, and the third at €650. Salaries decrease for "long-series" works (beginning with the eighth 50-minute episode, a protagonist receives at least 900 euros gross per day of posing) and for "very long series" works (soap operas with more than 40 25-minute episodes, where a protagonist receives 550 euros gross every pose). First-time and low-budget directors receive similar minimum pay for their films. Compensation is generally provided weekly, no later than the Friday following the day of service.
