From February 4 to 11, Italy is celebrating the first National Week of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (so-called STEM) disciplines, established last November by Law 187/2023 with the aim of raising awareness and stimulating young people's interest and choice in these disciplines. Numerous initiatives are being promoted by the Ministry of University and Research together with the Universities and Research Institutions, including multi-labs, exhibitions, study days, meetings and lessons for young children. The initiatives, moreover, will be joined by the social campaign "I am STEM," aimed especially at young people. Nobel laureate Giorgio Parisi, scientist Amalia Ercoli Finzi, physicist Lucia Votano, neuroscientist Giulio Deangeli, astronomer Marica Branchesi and marine biologist Mauro Celussi are the exceptional "testimonials" chosen for the occasion to promote involvement, especially of the younger generation, in technical-scientific disciplines. An important week for orientation and promotion, therefore, designed to help young people make informed choices about their future.
