Farewell to Kurt Hamrin, "Little Bird" of Italian soccer whose agility seemed to fly over the field, died yesterday in Florence at the age of 89. He was one of the best scorers in Serie A with 191 goals scored, most of them in the jersey of Fiorentina, a team from Florence. And ACF Fiorentina, in fact, remembered him with a note on its website, which reads, "President Commisso, his Family, the Management and all of Fiorentina join the grief of the family and the entire soccer world for the passing of Kurt Hamrin. Hamrin was and will forever be a true legend for all soccer fans and, in particular, for Fiorentina fans. He still holds the record for the most goals in a purple jersey along with Batistuta, with the lily on his chest he won a Cup Winners' Cup and two Coppa Italias, and he inextricably linked his life to the city of Florence”. With the purple jersey, during his career, he scored an impressive 208 goals in 362 official matches played between league and cups. And that is why Florence never forgot him and will remember him once again at his funeral, which will take place on February 7 at the church of San Miniato al Monte.
