Gabriele Visco, son of former Finance Minister Vincenzo Visco and former Public Manager of Invitalia (the national government agency for investment attraction and business development), is among four people placed under house arrest as part of an investigation by Rome prosecutors into alleged irregularities related to a multimillion-dollar tender. According to investigating authorities, the tender was allegedly influenced by two contractors and a Roman lawyer in order to favor a contractor close to Visco. The investigation also uncovered attempts to facilitate the hiring of an acquaintance at a public investee company and an alleged ring of fictitious consultancies aimed at misappropriating funds. In addition to the entrepreneurs and the Roman lawyer, those involved include precisely Gabriele Visco.
