There are around 50,000 fashion enterprises in Italy, with over 400,000 people. According to the Allianz Trade research, the sector's revenues in 2022, following the epidemic, would be 96.6 billion euros, the most in the last 20 years. A pattern that maintained in the first half of 2023 (+7.2% in turnover compared to the same time the previous year), but with a decrease in output (-4.8%) due to inflation and the slowdown in the post-Covid recovery. Exports in the textile-fashion sector hit 80 billion euros, up 19% over the previous year. Italian fashion is appreciated not just in EU countries (particularly France and Germany), but also outside of Europe, in the United States and China. Sustainability is at the forefront of the fashion business, as it is in many other industries, and it will be one of the primary goals in the next years.
