"Dario Osella is not only the founder of Fattorie Osella, he is its beating heart, he is the one who with passion and curiosity led the company to be what it is today”. This is how the Caramagna Piemonte entrepreneur is described on the company website who passed away last February 10 at the age of 92. He was born July 7, 1931, in Caramagna Piemonte, into a family with ancient dairy skills handed down from generation to generation. He attended the Royal College Carlo Alberto I in Moncalieri and then enrolled in university, where he soon realized that his real vocation was not to become a lawyer but to make cheese. It was a passion passed on to him by his grandfather Giacomo, who in 1870 came down from the mountain pasture to sell his cheeses with the cart that, more than 100 years later, would become the symbol of Osella Farms. In 1952 he opened the dairy in Caramagna Piemonte that is still active today, taking care of it with sacrifice and dedication in a difficult postwar period, inventing the famous Robiola Osella and many other cheeses. In 1958 he married Anna Carlotti, newly named "Miss Muretto di Alassio", by whom he had two children, Gino and Rossella. Today Fattorie Osella is a reality of Italian excellence in the Italian dairy scene, located always in Caramagna Piemonte, with an essence based on artisan care, tradition, innovation orientation and respect for the environment, territory, animals and community.
