Like every year, the Federconsumatori National Observatory has carried out monitoring on the costs of the most popular gifts and trends for Valentine's Day. The average increase in the cost of gifts this year amounts to +8% compared to 2023. The biggest increases were recorded for chocolates (+22%) and gift boxes for body care (+25%). Also this year, the race in search of the most original and meaningful gift does not stop: from the book with the couple photos, to the map that frames the place of the first meeting, from the plaque with the qr code to be framed to listen to your song, to the pair of trees to plant to celebrate this anniversary by making a gift to the environment as well. Another very popular novelty are the pralines with the print of a photo of the couple or love phrases on the wrapper or directly on the chocolate. An increasingly widespread trend is the progressive abandonment of classic gifts, to choose instead activities to be carried out together, in the name of good food or relaxation, such as the couple's treatment at a SPA, the cooking or tasting class, a short weekend away from home or the sharing of breathtaking and adventurous experiences. More and more couples are also choosing to dedicate the happiness of this day to others, engaging in solidarity initiatives, helping animal welfare associations or supporting organizations and associations in carrying out their educational, health and research programs. Valentine's Day is also synonymous with a romantic dinner: prices vary from city to city, but even on this front there are increases of about +6% to +25%. According to our estimates, 1 in 3 couples will enjoy a dinner out of the home, the others, in many cases, will try their hand at preparing gourmet recipes and delicacies at home. Those who dine out will often take advantage of apps and promotions to get discounts on dinner.
