The "Devotio" fair in Bologna featured technologies at the service of religion. The most successful products included wi-fi amplification systems for audio diffusion during celebrations, interactive installations to help children experience Mass, and automation systems for church lighting and security. Devotio's high-tech solutions included sophisticated devices for scanning sacred pieces of art. A statue or crucifix can be reproduced in high resolution using 3D printers in a variety of configurations. There was also room at the expo for scenic effects that evoke awe and amazement: digital applications capable of projecting light and picture plays on the exterior of churches and cathedrals, possibly for a liturgical feast or in honor of the patron saint. Automation technologies were also proposed, allowing the bells to be managed remotely via a simple app placed on a smartphone.
