In the first nine months of 2023, exports of industrial districts in Southern Italy reached 7.2 billion euros, up 3.7 percent from January-September 2022 (+260 million euros), which is better than the average for Italian districts (+0.4 percent). Among the southern regions where industrial districts are monitored, only Puglia and Basilicata showed declining exports compared to the first nine months of 2022. For positive dynamics, Sardinia (+16.2 percent) stood out, followed by Campania (+9.2 percent) and Abruzzo (+8.5 percent). Foreign sales of the Sicilian districts (+5.8 percent) also turned out to be on the rise. Among the best district supply chains in southern Italy, agribusiness stands out: +297 million euros, which corresponds to an increase of 6.9% . Also excellent was the export performance of the Technological Poles of the South: in the first nine months of 2023, foreign sales increased over the same period of the previous year by 2.17 billion euros (or +59.4 percent). This jump is almost entirely attributable to the Naples Pharmaceutical Cluster (+2.15 billion euros), whose exports more than doubled compared to the same period last year. Puglia's aerospace hub (+23.7 percent) and the ICT districts of L'Aquila and Catania also did well.
