Telespazio, a joint venture between Leonardo (67%) and Thales (33%), has been granted the framework contract by the European Defence Agency (EDA) through its subsidiary Telespazio France for the supply of SatCom services to European countries. The agreement intends to give European Union Member States, European companies, and actors involved in the EU's Common Security and Defence Policies with vital, resilient, and secure satellite communications services that are also commercially available. The contract lasts four years and is worth several tens of millions of euros. This agreement ensures that all European Union member countries can centralize their demand for satellite communications and gain coordinated, cheaper, and more effective access to these services. Telespazio will provide end-to-end satellite communications in several frequency bands, both commercial and military, as well as the necessary terminals. The programme is open to all European governments that have signed the EDA, as well as the various EU organisations, civilian and military missions and activities within the EU's Common Security and Defence Policy, and third countries who have signed agreements with the EDA. This inclusive approach demonstrates the program's commitment to encouraging collaboration and partnership among diverse stakeholders, thereby ensuring widespread access to key satellite communication services.
