The cosmetics industry is accelerating strongly thanks to new product and distribution mixes that respond to and anticipate consumer needs. In Italy, the year just past closes with a turnover of 15 billion euros recording an increase of 13.3 percent over 2022 and an estimated further increase of 9.8 percent in 2024 to 16.5 billion euros. Exports in 2023 reached 7 billion euros, up 19.5 percent with Europe (61 percent of the total), America and Asia (both at 18 percent) in pole position among the most important markets. Cosmetics, in 2023, were the first among the Made in Italy manufacturing sectors in terms of export growth. But Italians' consumption is also growing: up 8.9 percent to 12.5 billion euros and a projection for 2024 of an 8.4 percent increase to 13.5 billion euros.
