On Saturday, February 24, the second anniversary of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will convene the first videoconference meeting of G7 leaders of state and government under the Italian presidency. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is also expected to make contact. The government disclosed this in a notice on the G7 website, noting that a joint declaration would be adopted at the end of the conference. Italy took the Presidency of the G7 on January 1, 2024, for the seventh time. The G7 is made up of Italy, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The G7, which includes the European Union, is bonded by common ideals and principles. The Italian Presidency will span until December 31, 2024, and will involve a comprehensive schedule of technical meetings and institutional activities held across the country. The main event, the G7 Leaders' Summit, is scheduled for June 13-15 in Puglia.
