Napoli has exonerated coach Walter Mazzarri and replaced him with Francesco Calzona, Slovakia's head coach and former deputy to Sarri and Spalletti in Naples. His contract will expire in June. This season Calzona will be the third coach of the reigning Italian champions, who had started the championship led by Rudi Garcia. President De Laurentiis' decision came after the draw with Genoa. Calzona will keep the dual position: head coach of Slovakia and coach of Napoli. With him is his deputy Bonomi and the return of Francesco Sinatti, the athletic trainer who had left the club in September. Napoli had not had three different coaches in the same season since the 1997/1998 season. A season as cursed as the one still in progress, to which Napoli will once again try to turn things around. "Walter Mazzarri," De Laurentiis said, "is a friend of my family and above all a friend of Napoli. It's always painful to exonerate a friend, I thanked him for coming at a difficult time but you also have to consider that to Napoli and fans you have to be able to give something more. And now we are trying to give it through Calzona, who worked here with Sarri and then with Spalletti and who knows 80 percent of our players".
