In our daily lives we hear more and more about Artificial Intelligence, but what do Italians think about it? According to a survey by Facile.it commissioned from the institutes mUp Research and Norstat, nearly 5 million people consider it a threat. The study - carried out on a representative sample of the national population - shows that among younger people the idea that this science can be an opportunity prevails; if nationally 34.5 percent see advantages in the use of AI, the percentage rises to 40.4 percent among 25-34 year olds and even 53.5 percent among those in the 18-24 age group. In contrast, as age increases, so do doubts: after age 55, about 18 percent of respondents see it only as a threat. But what are the AI-related risks that Italians are most concerned about? 52.6% of respondents fear that AI can be exploited by criminals for fraudulent actions and 39.6% that it will become uncontrollable by humans. Fewer fewer (39%) think that online information could be invaded by fake content created by AI, while more than 5.6 million fear that it could cause them to lose their jobs, a fear found especially among younger people; in the 18-24 year-old sub-sample, more than 1 in 5 admit to having this concern.
