"There are many threats to the health of our planet, starting with the impact of climate change. Appropriate dissemination of information about the health of the environment among citizens and policy makers is essential for achieving sustainability goals. To cite some data from the SNPA Environment Report, 2022 was the hottest since 1961; greenhouse gas emissions, after the setback of the pandemic period, show an increase of +8.5% in 2022 compared to 2020, while registering a decrease of -20% compared to 1990. Responsible and sustainable use of water and land resources is needed. Renewable sources have exceeded their targets, reaching 20.4% of gross final consumption in 2020. This is a positive figure, but a lot of work needs to be done to reach the NIPEC targets”. This was stated by ISPRA and SNPA President Stefano Laporta at the presentation of the report of the SNPA National System (composed of Ispra and the environmental agencies Arpa/Appa) on the environment in Italy.
