After a brief illness, director Paolo Taviani has passed away. He was 92 years old. He is survived by his wife Lina Nerli Taviani and his children Ermanno and Valentina. With his brother Vittorio, who passed away in 2018, he formed one of the most influential pairs in Italian cinema. Paolo Taviani had recently announced his return to the set after directing the film "Leonora Addio" in 2022, his first solo feature film after his brother's death. The new film was supposed to be called "Canto delle Meduse" and feature the actress Kasia Smutniak as the protagonist. Throughout his long career as a director, he won all the most important Italian and European film awards and recognitions. Among his masterpieces: "Padre Padrone" and "San Michele aveva un gallo".
