"Is there really any thought of building a better world, and in this way? Is there really any thought of achieving peace? Enough, please! Let us all say enough, please!" It is a cry of pain from the heart that the Pope addresses to the faithful after Sunday's Angelus prayer. A pain that starts daily from the suffering of the people in Palestine and Israel - as well as from the tormented Ukraine "where so many are dying every day", caused by ongoing hostilities. "The thousands of dead, the wounded, the displaced, the immense destruction cause pain, and this with tremendous consequences on the little ones and the defenseless," stresses Francis, who hopes that the ongoing negotiations in Cairo will come to a successful conclusion: "Stop! I encourage the continuation of negotiations for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and throughout the region, so that the hostages can be freed immediately and return to their anxiously awaiting loved ones, and the civilian population can have safe access to due and urgent humanitarian aid”.
