In pursuit of energy independence, Italy is concurrently attention-holding over the Hydrogen Valleys, which serve as genuine epicenters for ecological hydrogen production. At present, funding has been secured for 52 projects across the nation, all of which are scheduled to be operational by December 31, 2026. Among these projects, 28 are located in the South, which will receive 50% of the over 500 million euros in planned investments. In addition to promoting the utilization and production of green hydrogen in transportation and industry, the objective is to revitalize defunct industrial zones, thereby stimulating regional economies. The NRRP allocates a cumulative investment of €3.64 billion towards the advancement of the hydrogen supply chain. The funds, according to Made in Italy and Minister of Enterprise Adolfo Urso, "are substantial and will be used to support the establishment of an Italian hydrogen supply chain", while the government works to expedite private investments by addressing bureaucratic and regulatory obstacles.
