During the Milan Fashion Week shows, an army of size 36 models was featured. This has triggered controversy in Italy, with designers accused of snubbing normality. "Fashion," writes Il Messaggero, "should make people dream, but it risks turning into a nightmare for those - especially young people - who are obsessed with the perfect look, which still means a flat belly, thread-like, and breadstick-like sizes. The phenomenon was in the air, from one fashion week to the next the "soft" and reassuring models have gradually disappeared, almost completely. This was highlighted by a report by Tagwalk, which speaks of a prevalence of women, but also men, who dress a size between 34 and 38 and are on average 5 feet 7 inches tall. The fashion industry search engine's analysis runs from September 2023 to February 2024, and points out that compared to the previous season, September, 17 percent fewer models with "normal" sizes or builds walked the runways. The risk is a decrease in self-esteem and confidence, while eating disorders increase, especially in young people. Tagwalk's report points the finger at the skinny bodies sent on the runway, applauding brands that showed models closer to reality, such as GCDS, Etro, Ferragamo, Marni, MSGM, Sagaboi, Feben, Diesel, Max Mara, Philosophy and Marco Rambaldi.
