According to the latest Forbes ranking, the highest number of women billionaires resides in the U.S., 97, twice as many as those from China, 42. With 19 exponents, Italy comes right after Germany, 22, but before India, 15. The first place in the Belpaese, with €7.5 billion in assets, is held by Massimiliana Landini Aleotti, owner of the pharmaceutical company Menarini. Not far behind follows with €5.6 billion the fashion designer Miuccia Prada, custodian of the historic fashion brand among the emblems of Made in Italy, which on Thursday will present its 2023 accounts, after a 2022 closed with €4.2 billion. After pharma and fashion, luxury comes next with Essilor Luxottica: tied with €4.5 billion is Nicoletta Zampillo, the second and then fourth wife of founder Leonardo Del Vecchio; and his two daughters by his first wife Paola Nervo, Marisa and Paola. Detached by more than €1 billion is Giuliana Benetton, holder of assets worth €3.3 billion. Then there is Susan Carol Holland, a wealth of €3.2 billion, who after starting her career as a speech therapist at the Policlinico di Milano came to chair Amplifon, the hearing aid bigwig created in Milan in 1950 by her father Algernon Charles Holland. Other names at the top of the list are those of Isabella Seragnoli (Coesia), Alessandra Garavoglia (Campari), Maria Franca Fissolo, widow of the inventor of Nutella, Michele Ferrero.
