Nearly five years in prison for tax cheating involving image rights. This is the request of the Spanish Public Prosecutor's Office in Madrid for Carlo Ancelotti, who is accused of defrauding the treasury of more than one million euros in fiscal years 2014 (386,361 euros) and 2015 (675.718 euros). The former AC Milan and Juventus coach is accused, among other things, of two crimes against the Treasury: despite claiming to be fiscally resident in Spain and considering Madrid his domicile, Ancelotti denounced the income from Real Madrid's remuneration and omitted the income from the exploitation of his image rights. According to the indictment, "in order to avoid taxation on income from said image rights," the coach created a "complex" and "confusing" network of trusts and companies to channel earnings. After three years of investigations, a court in the regional community of Madrid announced in the summer of 2023 the referral of Ancelotti to criminal justice and now the indictment and request for punishment have been announced, while the date of the trial is not yet known.
