According to WHO, gender-based violence affects about one-third of women worldwide, regardless of their membership in different sociocultural segments of the population. It is a problem that manifests itself in a variety of social contexts, from the home environment to school and work, all of which contribute greatly to the construction of one's identity and well-being. In particular, the workplace seems to be one of the elective places for this kind of experience: this is confirmed by the shocking data that emerged from the L.E.I. (Labour, Equity, Inclusion) 2024 Survey, entitled "Ti Tocca," conducted by Fondazione Libellula in order to investigate gender violence and discrimination in the world of work in Italy. The results of the survey, which involved 11,201 women, were presented yesterday and painted an alarming picture: about 7 out of 10 women in fact declared themselves victims of harassment, having received compliments, innuendoes and remarks about their bodies that made them feel uncomfortable. In addition, again about 70% of the sample reported that they had heard sexist or vulgar jokes, directed at themselves or other women, in the workplace: this experience was mostly experienced by female workers who do not have a stable partner or who work in companies with fewer than 49 employees. But that's not all: 40% had experienced unwanted physical contact, a sharp increase from 2022 (up about 81%), while 43% had received unwanted explicit advances and 27% reported unwelcome or unsolicited requests and behavior of a sexual nature.
