The Next Generation EU will have an impact of 1.4 percent on the GDP of European countries, but for Italy the gain will be between 2 and 2.5 percent. This was stated by European Economy Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni. "They range from countries that have in 2026 a GDP between 4 and 5 percent more, like Greece. Others that stand at 3 percent, like Spain. Italy between 2 and 2.5 percent, so above the European average. Of course, these are mathematical models that may or may not be confirmed. This tells us that the potential of the instrument is considerable," Gentiloni said. "The challenge, however, is played out in the next two to three years in a decisive way. What makes me satisfied with the Italian situation? I think the revision of the plan, which is not without controversy, has one advantage: it has become the plan of the current government, no longer the more or less suffered legacy of what a previous government or the one before even negotiated with the European Commission.”
