In the regions, municipalities, especially among young people, commitment to the green transition is increasing. Their best practices were the focus of Circonomia, the Circular Economy Festival held this year in Fano, Marche. Imagining the green transition as a marathon among Italian regions, a report was presented that reveals which ones have the best environmental sustainability performance. The ranking is based on 25 indicators including climate-altering emissions, waste production and separate waste collection, land consumption, percentage of renewables in energy production, rate of building regularity and electric motorization, and landscape quality. The interventions described in the report show that the green deal is not only essential to cope with the climate crisis but also a great opportunity for innovation and economic competitiveness. Topping the list are Trentino Alto Adige, Marche, Lombardy, Veneto and Tuscany.
