In the end, it will be Joe Biden vs Donald Trump. Nikky Haley's retirement following the devastating defeat to the New York tycoon on Super Tuesday effectively ended the game within the Grand Old Party. The former Republican president is so prepared to face the present White House occupant. In a poll, Political Thermometer asked Italians who they would vote for: Biden or Trump. Between the two, Donald Trump would win hands down, with 28.7% of the electorate voting with conviction and 15.4% preferring him to Biden, while "holding their noses" (a classic expression used to define unconvinced choices or where they opt for the least worst). On the other side, just 12.5% of the electorate would be completely convinced of Joe Biden, with the remaining 23.7% voting for the Democratic nominee without much conviction. Finally, around 17.4% would abstain or vote for a small candidate. Overall, Trump would win by a large margin, with 44.1% of the vote against Biden's 36.2%. A margin of approximately eight points would leave the present president with little hope of making a comeback.
