Italy once again on the top step of the podium in the women's Alpine Ski World Cup. On the snow of Åre, Sweden, Federica Brignone took first place in the penultimate giant slalom of the season. Third at the end of the opening run, the skier from Valle d'Aosta was the protagonist of a mind-boggling second run, which allowed her to file her race with an overall time of 2:11.02. Nothing to do for both Switzerland's Lara Gut-Behrami (+0.33) and the host Sara Hector (+0.40). Also a good run for Marta Bassino, who finished in fourth position (+1.47). For Brignone, this is the 26th success of her career in the top circuit, the 11th achieved in the giant slalom. On the eve of the finals in Saalbach (Austria), moreover, the Italian skier kept her second place in the specialty ranking with 650 points, reducing the disadvantage towards the aforementioned Gut-Behrami (745 points), leader of the ranking when there is only one test left.
