The Italian cosmetics sector is growing. First and foremost, the turnover of 15 billion euros in 2023 is significant. "This is a value driven by exports, 7 billion, which has grown by 19.5% since 2022: a positive trend that puts us first in comparison to other Made in Italy sectors", says Benedetto Lavino, president of Cosmetica Italia, the sector's national association. According to the association's data, each person uses at least eight cosmetics every day at all ages, for cleanliness and self-care, protection, and prevention. Italian companies create up to 67% of the make-up consumed in Europe, whereas the global average is 55%. From production to distribution, the sector employs about 155,000 people, with hairdressing and beauty specialists accounting for over 390,000 of the total. Exports last year were almost $7 billion, a significant rise from 2022. One of the world's most important events will be hosted in Bologna, Italy. The 55th edition of Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna, presented by Cosmetica Italia, will open on Thursday, March 21 and finish on Sunday, March 24. Over 3,000 companies from 67 countries have confirmed their presence.
