The number of yachts and superyachts traveling between Costa Smeralda, Porto Rotondo, and Olbia is increasing. Gallura has been at the core of a considerable increase in the presence of super luxury yachts over the last five years, with 500 more in 2023 than in 2018. More specifically, luxury vessels with a combined value of $15.5 billion arrived at the port during the previous year. This has a tremendous economic impact: consider that, according to Cipnes Gallura, a yacht can create spin-offs ranging from 6,000 to 40,000 euros per day, depending on its size. A research based on satellite data outlines this image. The Costa Smeralda, together with Porto Rotondo and Olbia, is one of the most important Mediterranean areas, setting a new record in summer 2023 with an enormous increase in the presence of superyachts. "According to the data, 1,782 yachts were registered in 2018, with August having the highest participation rate (58.06%). This number has continuously climbed, peaking in 2023 at 2,330 yachts, with 57.66% concentrated in August alone", the study's managers note. "Overall, there were 6,682 yachts between 2018 and 2023, with 357 docking days and 56,429 movements. Another point to note is that the overall economic value of the yachts that have arrived on the Costa Smeralda is $15 billion 625 million dollars, with the United States placing first, followed by Russia, Greece, and Qatar. The yacht "Flying Dagger" leads the attendance rankings with 290 days, followed by "Sibelle" with 224 and "Dilbar" with 160. The nationality of the owners is also taken into account: the United States leads with 57 owners, followed by Russia with 35, the United Kingdom with 28, Italy with 27, and Germany with 20.
