Francesco Acerbi faces the risk of long suspension. The sports judge has requested further investigation into the alleged racist insult by the Inter defender towards Juan Jesus, the Brazilian player of Napoli, during Sunday's match between the teams in Milan. This move was predictable considering the conflicting versions of the two players, with Acerbi taking a defensive stance ("I didn't utter racist remarks. My apologies? He misunderstood") and the Brazilian, who on Monday evening went on the offensive by confirming in a post on his social media profiles the insults he received ("He called me 'negro' and now changes his version"). Now it will be up to the FIGC prosecutor's office to take charge, with the federal prosecutor, Giuseppe Chinè, set to listen to the players to shed light on the incident. All available images and any testimonies will also be acquired. If a racist motive is confirmed through the acquisition of video evidence and testimonies, Acerbi could face a minimum of a 10-match suspension.
