Squirrels are common in New York and London, but they had not been seen in Rome until yesterday. They have suddenly taken over Villa Borghese, with hundreds of them moving from branch to branch, attracting those who pass by looking for a piece of nature in the heart of the city. The enormous Roman park is teeming with squirrels who climb, harvest seeds, and bring them to their burrows: all you need to do is gaze through the trees and recognize the long queues that go up and down. Although the city is home to less than a thousand specimens, there are certain areas where they are more readily observable: Villa Borghese in particular, but also Villa Ada, where they reside in relative silence. The black squirrel is replacing other creatures like the dormouse and oak mouse.
