Eight and a half hours of sunshine a day. Nine days of extreme precipitation per year. Seventy-four days of rain. Only 158 days a year out of climatic comfort, that is, with relative humidity above 70 percent or below 30 percent. Summer breeze at 7.2 knots average daily. These are the main average climate parameters that push Bari to first place in the new edition of the Sole 24 Ore climate index. The ranking is used each year to determine in which of Italy's 107 capital cities people live best climatically, based on ten parameters that measure the most frequent "good weather" conditions. For the first time, an area in the south of Italy takes the top spot, undermining Imperia - now second - which had taken the lead in previous editions. In addition to the Apulian capital, six other southern urban centers populate the top ten of climatic well-being: in order Barletta-Andria-Trani (3rd), Catania (4th), Pescara (5th), Chieti (7th), Brindisi (8th), Agrigento (9th), and Cagliari (10th). Otherwise, in addition to the capital of western Liguria, Livorno (6th), the only one from Central Italy in the top ten, also stands out for the best climate. On the opposite side, in last place, is once again Belluno, last in the sunshine index (just 6.7 hours of sunshine per day, compared to a national average of 7.8) and for cold and rainy days.
