Gerardo Mastrandrea, a Serie A sports judge, has officially decided not to reprimand Inter Milan midfielder Francesco Acerbi for allegedly making racial remarks against Napoli's Brazilian Juan Jesus. In the opinion of the judge, "the minimum level of reasonable certainty about the certainly discriminatory content of the offense is not reached in the present case". Given that Acerbi did not "disavow the offense" per se, but rather the "discriminatory content" of the statement, and that this seems to have been understood solely by the offended player, without the backing of any external evidentiary evidence (audio, video, testimonial), the decision was made to exclude any doubts about Juan Jesus's good faith".
