Miami welcomes the inaugural implementation of a baggage handling system that utilizes Leonardo's cross-belt technology, which is predominantly employed in the airport industry. MSC Cruises, in fact, has picked the group's plant directed by Roberto Cingolani to enhance logistics and baggage handling operations within its port under development in the Florida city, which will be the largest in the United States and one of the largest in the world. Leonardo will consequently partner with Fincantieri Infrastructure, which is carrying out the work, to offer the sophisticated passenger package management system, which is planned to be delivered in October 2024. The contract acquired by the group is of moderate value, estimated at around 7 million euros. Nevertheless, the order holds great significance due to its introduction into a novel sector—cruise terminals—which are annexed to airports. Moreover, it aligns with the group's strategic objective of exporting cross-belt technology, specifically to the United States and North America.
