Yesterday Rome’s police arrested a 32-year-old man from Tajikistan at Fiumicino airport. The man, Ilkhomi Sayrakhmonzoda, is the recipient of an international arrest warrant "for joining the ranks of Isis and going to Syria to fight in 2014". The man is reported to be an "active member of Isis". The Tajik man, a fugitive with numerous aliases with different nationalities and dates of birth, had landed at Fiumicino on a flight from Eindhoven at 11:45 a.m. and was arrested. Based on a "red notice" from Interpol, the man did not appear in Italian law enforcement databases and therefore had no record on the national territory, according to reports. The 32-year-old man's cell phone and 2,000 euros in cash were seized. It does not appear that the man was passing through the Roman airport on his way to another country. Investigators, including through analysis of the cell phone, are now aiming to figure out what his destination in Italy was and what, if any, contacts he had to meet.
