Disturbances in the center of Naples yesterday saw clashes between anti-NATO protesters and police in riot gear. It happened in the center of the city, where protesters tried to break through the security cordon to get to the San Carlo theater with the aim of contesting the scheduled concert for the 75th anniversary of NATO. Officers used batons to stop the protesters. Three young men, their faces bloodied, took refuge in an alley. The rest of the protesters, with anti-NATO flags and banners, stopped and shouted the reasons for the protest over megaphones, while the security cordon controlled the street to prevent the procession from arriving at the San Carlo.
