With €5,000 in your bank account, you'll make €18.2 each year in Trento and Bolzano, €15 in Florence, €13 in Rome, and €11 in Milan and Perugia. The same amount, however, only provides 6.5 euros in Naples, 7 euros in Trieste, and 8 euros in Catanzaro, Potenza, Genoa, and Aosta. Turin's current account holders are slightly luckier, with an annual "collection" of €8.5. Fabri's Analysis and Research Office conducted the research that yielded these findings. There are 1,151 billion euros in Italian current accounts, however there was a 3.6% reduction from 2023 to 2022: depositors used their reserves to cover living expenses and shifted some of the liquidity into more attractive forms, such as time deposits or government bonds. Lombardy has 20% of the liquidity, double that of Lazio and Veneto. Campania, Calabria, and Basilicata have the lowest yields (together with Friuli Venezia Giulia). However, the South is also afflicted by a labor market that is three times more unfavorable than the northern regions: in Trentino Alto Adige, a girl aged 15 to 24 has a one in ten chance (9.8%) of being unemployed, whereas one of her peers in Calabria has a greater than one in two chance (51.6%).
