The Green Homes Directive, which was approved by the European Council, is one of the EU's attempts to encourage energy efficiency and environmental protection. However, more than 60% of Italians do not approve of the directive. According to a Political Thermometer poll, 36.5% of respondents (the majority) believe it is an ideological mandate that sets unattainable targets and forces citizens to spend significant sums of money to refurbish their homes. Then, 23.6% agree with the objective but believe the goals are too high and too close in time. On the other hand, 18.4% absolutely approve, describing the instruction as "common sense, not too radical, and that addresses the problem". Finally, 16.6% believe that this directive is overly broad and non-binding, and that as a result, little will be done to improve the environment or save energy.
