E4 Computer Engineering, a leading Italian company in the field of high-tech hardware and software solutions for Artificial Intelligence, High-Performance Computing (HPC), Quantum Computing (QC), Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics, has won the tender to upgrade Galileo 100, a CINECA Interuniversity Consortium supercomputer and Tier-1 cloud system for public scientific research capable of serving over 5000 users. CINECA intends to use the tender to acquire a new solution capable of upgrading and expanding the services supplied by its HPC infrastructure. CINECA identified the ability to increase the number of vCPUs available for VM services by at least ten times as one of the most important requirements of the new infrastructure, as well as the ability to balance the increase in vCPUs with adequate storage and a multi-protocol storage infrastructure (files, blocks, objects) for long-term data storage and interactive computing.
