In Italy, young people dominate the book market. If Istat data is correct, in 2022 - the most recent year available - 39.3% of the population over the age of six read at least one text in a year, not for study or professional purposes, but for leisure; between the ages of 11 and 24, it never falls below 50%. Teenagers are by far the most avid readers: between the ages of 11 and 14, it exceeds 57%, with a further rise in the female component, reaching over 65% of female readers. After that, beginning at the age of 25, this great habit declines, only returning to growth near the age of 60, and then descending again in old age, after the age of 74.
