Liberation Day has always been related to a set of political and media dynamics that have been standardized, based on cross-accusations. Beginning with April 25 and the significance that this date has today, Termometro Politico conducted a study in which the general approval of the Italian populace was noted. For 37% of the sample, the Resistance's victory should be celebrated since so many Italians are still thoroughly fascist, and we must avoid the rise of a new fascism. April 25 still has meaning for 24.7% of people, but it should represent the fight against all forms of authoritarianism and violations of communal and individual rights. On the other hand, a sizable 27.8% say that the Liberation has been instrumentalized and that it only represents a subset of Italians, rather than the principles of freedom for all. Then, a minority (although not too many) saw April 25 as a celebration of Italy's defeat and occupation by the Anglo-Americans (9.2%).
