Sergio Mattarella, President of the Republic, presented 29 Certificates of Honour to "Alfieri della Repubblica". Solidarity for the environment and culture is the overarching topic that prompted the young Alfieri's decision in 2023. The floods that ravaged our territory in 2023, particularly in Romagna and Tuscany, have highlighted the altruism, charity, and feeling of community that so many young people exhibit. The Certificates emphasize volunteer acts, demonstrations of active citizenship, and the experiences of young people who have been able to use their passion for writing or science to build a "bridge" to lessen disparities. However, the cases chosen are not examples of rare actions, but rather of widespread behavior, of spontaneous solidarity: actions and feelings to be encouraged in order to spread among young people those values that can enable them to become builders of a sustainable future, adults aware of the importance of solidarity in a world marked by conflicts, climate change, and environmental crises. In addition to awards based on the annual topic, there are Certificates of Honour for acts of exceptional courage and symbolic gestures of friendship. President Mattarella also presented three plaques for collaborative activities of young and very young individuals who demonstrated the values of solidarity with tremendous strength.
