The state of Florida's ban on the manufacture of synthetic meat answers to the viewpoint of nearly seven out of ten Italians (68%) who, in 2024, oppose the consumption of cell-based products. This is according to a Coldiretti analysis of Noto Polls data, which was released in conjunction with Governor Ron DeSantis' signature on legislation prohibiting the sale or manufacture of artificial meat in the American state. According to Coldiretti, this example shows that even in the nation where synthetic foods originated, there is a growing awareness regarding the hazards associated with a technology characterized by ambiguous boundaries and numerous unknowns, which have the potential to irrevocably alter human existence and the environment. It is conceivable that Florida is not the only state impeding the development of cell-based products, as the Financial Times reports that "at least seven U.S. states have seen Republicans introduce legislation prohibiting the sale or distribution of lab-grown meat since the start of the year."
